I have used this book as an IV room Pharmacist time and time again. Now that I am in management we have decided to purchase this book for not only the Pharmacy but for every Nursing Unit. This is by the most useful IV reference I have found.

This book rates up there with cup-o-noodles and double cushion socks when you are a nurse who works in the ICU or ER. This book is an excellent clinical reference that is easy to read. Drugs are listed genericly with common dose ranges, indications, reactions, iv compatibility and incompatability information. The only thing that I wish they would highlight is the elimination half life, peak and duration information which can be found in the davis iv drug book. I leave this book in my work bag and goes everwhere with me. I have owned 2 other copies of this book and update every 2 years or so. I would keep on buying this book, although the above tweak would make it perfect for me.

I bought this book for over 20 years, I buy the newest at every 2 years. Even if I'm a french nurse, I consult this book almost every night that I work. On a night shift, it's not possible for us to consult a pharmacist if we need some informations quickly so, this book is very useful to know how to give I.V. medications. We always find what we are looking for; dilution, rate of administration, incompatibilities, adversed reactions and many more.... Those informations are up to date and it's easy to consult them even if we are not pretty good in english!

Garfield in all his glory really gets himself in a pickle. Whether picking on Odie and Jon, harassing the neighbors, overeating, oversleeping, Garfield never stops getting into mischief. Garfield never fails to tickle my funny bone. One thing I'm very thankful about Garfiled is that Jim Davis always manages to keep Garfield clean when it comes to humor and as opposed to a majority of cartoons today that use obscenity, vulgarity and sexual innuendoes to be funny(I'm talking to you Deamworks and Cartoon Network!), Garfield is funny in a good clean way.Join Garfield as he gets into a pickle and more trouble. This volume contains Garfield comic strips from 6-21-2009 to 1-16-2010

Garfield Gets in a Pickle: His 54th book is a delightful addition for our library of Garfield books. All of my family read these Garfield books and share chuckles as they read the books. We look forward to each new volume of this Garfield series of books available 2 times a year and highly recommend this one to any Garfield fan.

The world would be a better place if we learned a few lessons from a cartoon cat. All Garfield books are worth having and re-reading again and again for laughs. One of the genuine FUNNY characters that has been created without catering too much to the politically correct brigade.Keep up the great work Mr Davis and thanks for giving us something to laugh at.

I have been a fan of Garfield sense I was first introduced to it as a young kid. After emailing and asking when their finally going to put these books on the Kindle it's finally been done. It is great to read it on the train and with the ability to zoom into each frame. I would like to only buy these books like this in the future as long as their not going to change them as other books have done in the past.

Have always loved the orange kitty. Was looking forward to this book in particular as I love dill pickles also!! What I have read of it is hilarious and can't wait until the next book comes out!! Love the cat and love the books!! Would purchase any books about him!!

Not much to say about this item. My family loves Garfield and took turns with this book. It's hard to pick a favorite of the series. Whoever did the binding on the book did a good job so was satisfied with the quality. It came with other items but not one page was marked or bent. I'd buy it again.

Right when I got this book, I didn't hesitate to go on the couch and read this book. The whole book was full of hilarious situations by Garfield, Oddie, and Jon. This book gave me the chuckles on the first page. Also, Jon ans Liz start to take there relationship to the next level [in a funny way]. This book entertained me so much, that I read the whole book on the first day I got it. Well, I hope you consider this book. If you do, I guaranty that you will easily fall in love with this book; Just like I did.

My 3rd grader loves this!

About the Author

The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche was born in Prussia in 1844. After the death of his father, a Lutheran minister, Nietzsche was raised from the age of five by his mother in a household of women. In 1869 he was appointed Professor of Classical Philology at the University of Basel, where he taught until 1879 when poor health forced him to retire. He never recovered from a nervous breakdown in 1889 and died 11 years later. Known for saying that “god is dead,” Nietzsche propounded his metaphysical construct of the superiority of the disciplined individual (superman) living in the present over traditional values derived from Christianity and its emphasis on heavenly rewards. His ideas were appropriated by the Fascists, who turned his theories into social realities that he had never intended.Walter Kaufmann was a philosopher and poet, as well as a renowned translator of Friedrich Nietzsche. His books include Nietzsche: Philosopher, Psychologist, Antichrist, From Shakespeare to Existentialism, and Existentialism: From Dostoevsky to Sartre. He was a Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University, where he taught after receiving his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1947 until his death in 1980. He held visiting appointments at many American and foreign universities, including Columbia, Cornell, Heidelberg, Jerusalem, and the Australian National University, and his books have been translated into Dutch, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.

#44,622 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

I cannot think of one book that has more influence on me than Thus Spoke Zarathustra. It is a book that I once read at least once a year and it never failed to fill my mind with hope and ideas. I totally disagree with those who consider Nietzsche to be hard, stern, and without hope. I find nothing but hope in the works of Nietzsche. He deepest desire was to see humans remove the yoke of any oppressive ideologies which hindered thoughts and imagination. My initial reading of Zarathustra was very disappointing. I was not ready for the very stylized language he used but subsequent reading made me look beyond the style and see the thoughts behind them and then yielded the wisdom beneath. I make no claims to entirely understand Nietzsche but someone who dropped out before reaching high school I believe I have a fairly good grasp of his overall principles. His ideas are not so abstract that only scholars can understand them. I have now read most of his major works and consider him the single greatest influence on my own life and the perceptions of various institutions. As an atheist I was naturally drawn to his hostility towards most forms of organized religions---the exception for Nietzsche being Buddhism--but he was not grim or dour about this and always championed the "yay-saying" and discouraged the "nay-saing". His words can come across as a bit hard and cold but he felt he was in a desperate battle with a force that was robbing humanity of it's humanity and there was no sense mincing words about the consequences. He would have hated the Nazis. They were everything he despised about the regressive nature of humanity. The were devoid of all hope and their perverse use of the philosophy would have sickened him. This is a book that is still very valid and vital to the health of humanity. It should be read and reread.

A very good and dense book. I don't know if it was the prose, the translation, or the age of language in the text, but I found myself reading a few passages multiple times to really understand it. But all-and-all, a great read.People have spent decades writing long explanations and commentary on the book, so I'll simply say that much of it I could relate to my own challenges and experiences in life and that its message resonated with me.

This is a good, straightforward and fairly literal translation, with helpful notes -- not too many, but useful. I much prefer it to the work of Walter Kaufmann which has for a long time been standard fare for university reading. Walter was better than the Nazified edition with the author's sister to speak for him. But there is a great deal of self-important nonsense by Mr. Kaufmann in his edition. Here we have a fine translation that may well become the new university standard, at least it is for me.

I believe Nietzsche saw his "Zarathurstra" as his magnum opus, the artistic-expressive summary of his beliefs. It is a wonderful book, and anyone who has read his other works will find that "Zarathustra" really does synthesize and summarize those other works. The challenge with "Zarathustra" and Nietzsche's other works, is the depth and breadth of his experience and scholarship. The more I read his works, the more I realize I miss...and to some degree must miss! I have a limited background in Classical studies, but not to the extent Nietzsche did. As another for-instance - I do not speak or read French or Italian, and so I can only analytically understand Nietzsche's statements about the cadences of those languages, and their connection to their local habitats, and the way they both reflect and influence their speakers' demeanors. Oh well! Something to shoot for, for me, I guess, to learn Spanish and French....and, German?!This is a very good translation with good end-notes. There are some references I think the translator missed, but that's ok.

Nietzche dances along the edge of schizophrenia, which a Horrobin has noted is HUMAN WRIT LARGE.There is nothing exceptional in normalcy, by definition, therefore only madmen can be geniuses.I Am well acquainted with schizophrenia, and Nietzche's work offers an insight into their intense inner world. He was spurned by the sane, not for loving too little, but for loving too intensely. You will wait in vain for the promised superman to emerge, for this is a story of his gestation, not his birth. We await his birth wondering who he is; and what his nature.Perhaps this is an overhang from Nietzche's monotheists past, with all their talk of "The Return of the Messiah"Us Vanatru, one the other hand, have our Sacred and eternal Wheel of Life.

The Diviners is one of the more classy young adult books in existence today because it's truly one of a kind. Being as chunky as the book is, it's fitting that the story encompasses so much from bloodied history to evisceration of evil to a very diverse set of characters. For such a story to work and work well, The Diviners have a colorful set of characters that I absolutely adore. Not only that, the setting just clicks with the dark, eery atmosphere of the book.As the Solomon's Comet is to make its pass of earth, the time for Armageddon to be unleashed on the planet draws closer and someone has returned to fulfill the evil prophecy. But nothing is ever as simple as that and so there's a string of murders to solve in a city full of strange occurrences, unknown powers and wicked intentions. When Evie gets into trouble for her drunken attempt to vilify a young man, her parents choose to send her away to her bachelor uncle all the way to New York City to cool things down in Ohio. In New York City, Evie is reunited with Mabel and is ecstatic to be there as her Uncle Will isn't the all that restrictive as long as Evie stays out of trouble. She meets Sam, Jericho as well as Theta and Henry, each of whom have their own life troubles to deal with. Then there's Memphis and his little brother as well as his best friend, Gabriel who are just trying to survive life in the twenties.Evie is very carefree and loud in her ways even if she doesn't really like herself all that much. However, I really liked her. As much as she's rash and moody, she's also very outspoken and opinionated. Jericho is this quiet and bookish boy who think he's a freak and I just love him the most as he's amazing all around. Memphis is a poet, Henry is a pianist; really, everyone in this book is so dynamic and their interactions with each other are so interesting, especially the friendship of Theta and Henry. More, please. The historical setting of the roaring twenties is done amazingly well. It's apparent just how much research went into constructing the world with such vivid details of how life used to be in a bygone era. The language, the fashion, the lifestyles just work together as a single unit to transport the reader to that time with breathtaking ease.On a deeper level, there's a lot of moral relativism, agnosticism, religious philosophies as well as political notions in The Diviners, as the characters often find themselves discussing one philosophy or the other. I find such talk fascinating because its edutainment value really opens up the mind to how the world works. I particularly enjoyed reading about theodicy because it's a very relatable and oft-repeated philosophy in today's world. The Diviners is one hell of a creepy book. I love reading horror because it's so much fun! I will admit that I avoided reading this at night when I got slightly spooked out a couple times. Still, there's murder, there's cannibalism, there's utter gore; all of which I found oh-so-enticing to read about. The whole cast of characters is lively and there are some very hilarious moments despite the plot being so grim. There's a lot to The Diviners and in essence, it's a perfect read to immerse yourself in on a rainy day.

I cannot believe that I went so long without reading this book, because it is literally right up my alley. I got so much more than I thought I would going into this book and I LOVED it.First thing I need to start off with is how much I liked the time period and how well Libba Bray executed it. She OBVIOUSLY did her research, which is always nice, but then she was able to take that research and make you feel like you were actually in that time period. There have been other historical fiction novels that I have read, that while it is set in a different time period, the characters feel like they come right out of the 21st century. The descriptions of the places and the slang that was used in The Diviners actually made me feel like I was actually in the 1920's.The other thing I loved was the paranormal aspect. Whenever I heard someone talk about this book all I got from most of the reviews what that it was a spooky/scary book, I didn't really hear most people talk about the paranormal part of this book, and so finding out that teenagers with paranormal powers was a part of this book made me pleasantly surprised. While I loved this part, it was also what left me a little disappointed with this book. (view spoiler)The only other thing that I really did not like (other than the previously stated slightly spoilery part above) was the sort of(?) love triangle. It wasn't a huge, but I have a feeling that it is going to be bigger in the next book and that just kind of annoys me. Honesty, I don't think it was executed badly, I just am so over them at this point that even the hints of them annoy me now. This is obviously a personal thing, and I wouldn't actually use this as something against this book, I just have read way too many of them and feel the need to point them out.I am sure I have more things I could talk about, but I need to start Lair of Dreams, so this will have to do.

The Diviners is a MUST READ folks. I'm telling you. Before I really dive into this review, can I just shout from the rooftops that this book needs to be a movie?? Please?! Ok, now that I've gotten that out of the way, let's talk about how "pos-i-tutely" amazing this book is.Coming in just right under 600 pages, The Diviners will definitely take up your evenings for a while, but don't let that scare you away! It is such a gripping, suck you in, can't put it down book and now I feel like I'm actually begging you to read it. And that's fine, I guess I am begging you to read it. So just do it already.Right from the start, the main character Evie draws you in with her over the top wit and charm. She's a little "too much" but I found her to be charming. She's grown up rich with parents who seem to be a little too interested in what people think of them, and Evie loves to push their buttons. She finally pushes too many of said buttons and gets shipped off to live with her uncle in New York City.In The Diviners, Libba Bray creates a real and mysterious New York City. It is glamorous and doesn't lack any of the NYC glitz, but Bray also includes plenty of real history too. This book is unlike anything I've ever read because it includes real history, incredible imagery, and some supernatural creepy drama! I think what I enjoyed the most about this novel is how real it felt. I constantly felt as though I was skipping through New York City right being Evie and the gang, and I didn't want it to ever end.Bray creates such a magical world by mixing a little bit of humor, mystery and thrill, as well as the "Creepy Crawlies" that had me wanting more. Good thing Bray has delivered with the next book in the series, Lair of Dreams. I haven't had the opportunity to read it yet, but it is most certainly next on my list. I would highly recommend this book to all readers of all different genres. So, stop sitting around reading this review! Go buy the book!
