Got my daughters books in today. Very excited to get her to learn her letters before pre-k. Books were packaged well no damage. Once i looked inside books i can see where people get disappointed. Theres only one line for each letter for them to trace. I told myself she'd be done with book before she actually learned anything. I came up with the alternative of cutting pages and putting in plastic sleeves in a binder so we can simply wipe away and keep on practicing. If you don't want to waste no money you can always print out these type of worksheets online for free but i decided to use these with the color and drawings. Overall im content but do wish they had more work in them.

GARBAGE! Besides there being just one line of letters to trace there are GRAMMATICAL ERRORS in the book. Click on the attached photo below and read the first page with the letter A. How do you even publish a book about letters without proofreading first? Carson-Dellosa Publishing should be ASHAMED of themselves. If it were printed in China I would maybe be more forgiving...but this is printed in the USA! The editor gets an F for this piece of shameful garbage.

Complete waste of money. An entire page of paper and only five letters to trace. Doesn't even have the connect the dot letters or space to practice.

I wish I read ALL the reviews as I purchased this book as well as the numbers counter part with it. My niece just received it today, almost finished it and she loved it, BUT as many others state there is no room to practice writing the letters, they literally give you the letter to trace 3-4 times and that's it, on to the next letter. There should be an additional page for each letter to actually get practice in writing. Horrible decision by the make of this book.

My daughter is four years old and i bought this for her because she is a little behind with writing letters. However I'm giving this book a 3 star rating because it doesnt give the child enough room to actually practice, its literally a line with 3-4 uppercase letters for them to trace and no lower case letters for them to practice. I understand that this book wasnt made for a four year old but i think it should have at least more lines to practice on or lower case letters. At least the pages can be torn out.

I got these for my niece and nephew. I removed the pages and put them in page protectors so they were reusable with dry erase markers. They love practicing with them :)

this book has one line in the middle of the page for tracing each letter in CAPITAL form, approximately 6 to 8 times. then it seems as an after thought, on the last 2 or 3 pages, it gives you all of the alphabet to trace in both upper and lower form, one each. they could have left more lines on the other blank spaces for you to practice or included the lower case letters with the upper ones so you could be more familiar with both. had I seen this in a book store to review before buying, I would not have picked it up.

Very dissapointed in this book. It's a total of about 20 pages with a few letters on each page, I would've liked alot more tracing put in there

About the Author

Andrew Lang was a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic, as well as a well-known collector of fairy tales. He was born in Selkirk, Scotland. While the B&N hardcover edition may be beautiful, nowhere in the description does it say that it is a selection of stories and therefore incomplete. In fact it is misleading because it has the same description as all of the others. It only has 29 of the 37 stories. I'm returning it for the Dover Classics edition. Which isn't as fancy looking, but it has quality printing, with big enough font and most importantly, it is complete.

I love fairy tales and since I'd read this book as a child I was excited to see it in such a beautiful edition.But this book is misleading. No where does it say that it is a "selection" of tales.It is missing some very important stories for whatever reason.This kills it as a valuable edition to a library as some of the stories it left out are some of the best:Little Red Riding hoodSleeping BeautyRumpelstiltskinLittle ThumbThe Goose GirlTrusty JohnThe Brave Little TailorThe Voyage to LilliputThis is absolutely unacceptable.Also, the book is wrapped, so you only find out the stories are missing when you open it. Shame on Barnes and Noble for releasing such an edition.Stick with the Dover editions, they are complete and include the illustrations. Not as pretty as this one on the outside, but here it's definitely what's on the inside that counts!

This is a lovely edition, with a handsome cover, gilt edges, original illustrations, and a ribbon bookmark. It has everything I could want for my kiddo--except all the *actual stories* from the original Blue Fairy Book. For example, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, and Rumpelstilzkin are all within the first 10 stories in the original book, but missing in this edition. What were the editors thinking?

If you are new to Lang, it started in 1889 with the blue fairy book, and then a series developed, yellow, crimson, orange, red, and so forth.The fact that this series has endured to now is a testament to its quality.As you read, you will discover fairy tales and myths from all over the world, including the well known writers such as Grimm, Andersen, Perrault, and Mme D'Aulnoy.These are not the politically correct stories you might expect, and I believe you will find them useful whether it's for your own reading pleasure, of for passing on stories to children.In fact, if you look beyond the surface of the story, there is a cautionary aspect for children who might get lost, and the evil characters they might meet like the wolf in sheep's clothing, or the boy who cried wolf, or the nice person who offers a gift, but is really a wicked queen in disguise.There may be a young prince who helps a hairy man escape, and the king embarrassed and enraged orders the child to be killed. Naturally the woodsman slaughters an animal instead, and returns those to the king instead as evidence of performance of the deed.There are stories of boys becoming men, being tested by the princess, and doing great deeds to prove their worth. Some characters are wicked and evil, and so the protagonist has to develop resources of their own to defeat the deceit, trickery, jealousy, ambition, and wickedness of the people they encounter.I recommend you start with the blue book, because it has most of the best known stories, for example, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Bluebeard, Puss in Boots. You can check the contents of each book at mythfolklore, and even read the stories online.If you are buying Lang, you need to know which publisher, because there are many editions through different publishers, some are good with nice print and pictures, others have small print and no pictures.I highly recommend the Dover edition which has pictures and good size print. These pictures are black and white drawings. The Boomer books edition has good size print. If you want a durable hardcover library style book with a red string bookmark, I recommend the D N Goodchild books. Avoid the compilation book, and buy them individually.One of my favorite stories not in this edition is The wooing of Olwen. It's unusually cruel and bloodthirsty from Wales and King Arthur's court.I know you will enjoy these wonderful stories, and I hope this review was helpful.

(Not all fairy tales are the sappy sweet rewritten Disney rip-off versions.)In this book are “Cinderella,” “Aladdin,” “Why the Sea is Salt,” “”Puss in Boots,” “Toads and Diamonds,” “Rose Red and Rose White,” “The Yellow Dwarf,” and more.Some of these stories are difficult to read because of the writing style, some are quick reads due to the brevity of the tale, and some just don’t make sense in the way they end.All in all, I do recommend this book for literary and psychological research, and for the fun of it if you are so inclined.

Hesperus Press Hardback edition: It's hard to find a modern issue of the Blue Fairy Book that is unedited/unabridged and includes ALL the original tales. The Hesperus Press edition includes all that and is illustrated! The drawings are black and white, nothing exciting, but well done and enjoyable. Really glad to have found this edition for my shelf and will be purchasing all of their Fairy Book editions!

About the Author

William S. Klug is an Emeritus Professor of Biology at The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) in Ewing, New Jersey, where he served as Chair of the Biology Department for 17 years. For more than 25 years, he was a faculty member in the Department of Biological Sciences and in the Department of Molecular Genetics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has also served on the faculties of Northwestern University and Florida State University. He received his B.A. from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. In addition to this text and its companion volumes, he has also written textbooks in human genetics and general biology for nonmajors. His research interests center on the molecular organization and physical mapping of the heterochromatic regions of human acrocentric chromosomes. At the undergraduate level, he teaches courses in Mendelian and molecular genetics, human genetics, and general biology, and has received numerous awards for teaching excellence given by university faculty, student organizations, and graduating seniors. Charlotte A. Spencer is a retired Associate Professor from the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She has also served as a faculty member in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Alberta. She received her B.Sc. in Microbiology from the University of British Columbia and her Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Alberta, followed by postdoctoral training at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington. Her research interests involve the regulation of RNA polymerase II transcription in cancer cells, cells infected with DNA viruses, and cells traversing the mitotic phase of the cell cycle. She has taught courses in biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and oncology, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, she has written booklets in the Prentice Hall Exploring Biology series, which are aimed at the undergraduate nonmajor level. Michael A. Palladino is Dean of the School of Science and Professor of Biology at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey. He received his B.S. degree in Biology from Trenton State College (now known as The College of New Jersey) and his Ph.D. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Virginia. He directs an active laboratory of undergraduate student researchers studying molecular mechanisms involved in innate immunity of mammalian male reproductive organs and genes involved in oxygen homeostasis and ischemic injury of the testis. He has taught a wide range of courses for both majors and nonmajors and currently teaches genetics, biotechnology, endocrinology, and laboratory in cell and molecular biology. I was educated many years ago, way before they elaborated the human genome. I felt I needed to learn the language of genetics in order to understand current medical literature, so I purchased various books in this field. Unfortunately, all were above my head until I purchased this one. I have just begun to read the book, but my initial impression is that I will finally understand the subject. The book really does get down to basics and has a decent index as well. Highly recommended.

This book isn't a very good genetics textbook in my opinion. The concepts are so disorganized and make no logical sense especially for undergraduate students trying to connect the basics with harder conceptual ideas. Also, it is text heavy with only a few pictures that in themselves are hard to understand and conceptualize. This makes each chapter harder to read and makes it hard to retain the muddled information.

I use this for my college genetic class. It is an older version of the required material, but it works just fine. I’m always prepared for class once I’ve read (or catch up if I am behind.)

Interesting book! My only complaint is that they went into a lot of detail about certain things, such as the experiments that the ideas were derived from. This could be good or bad, depending on your perspective. It was interesting, but when I'm also taking organic chemistry and biology, it's a lot of "filler" information that takes away from the main ideas. If I wasn't so crammed for time it would be great. Pretty good book, although I don't have anything to compare it to. Just my opinion.

This was the first biography I've read about Anne Frank. In all transparency, I never really liked "Diary of a Young Girl, " finding it dull and saccharine in places, so was interested to read an impartial biography.Anne is touchingly fleshed out into an all-too-real girl here. I appreciate the author's lack of bias in presenting her personality traits, some of which are not especially flattering. Here, we see a young lady who was no saint: she was at times peevish, sulking, prone to bouts of temper and surprisingly catty at times. And instead of taking away from the reader's appreciation for the person, these realities just illuminate the fact that she truly was an everyday normal, teenage girl whose world was turned upside down by an apocalyptic catastrophe, and makes her fate and the fate of countless others like her all the more tragic and unimaginable. It's also so tragic to imagine who she might have become, given the fact that she seems to truly have been a gifted and inspired writer.It was enlightening to read the accounts of her experiences in Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen. It's important to remember that her story didn't end when the family was discovered. Instead, it continued in these unthinkable places, where she showed fortitude and resilience that often go unremarked upon because these were events that took place after the more familiar denouement of her story.

Many of my own impressions correspond to those in the Amazon capsule review, and I shall not repeat these. Older readers may not find the manner of writing to be especially appealing, because the presentation is very much in the 'young adult book' manner of expression. As well, those of us who have previously studied Anne Frank may find little that is truly original here. It nonetheless is a superb biography for young adult use, and should be very enlightening to those of any age who know Anne only from her diary.The author is frank and detailed about Anne's recollections and those of the people who knew her and her family, and there are many contributions from those in the latter group. She also is sensitive and insightful regarding factors in the diary which may be troubling, such as in outlining the circumstances which would have coloured Anne's highly negative comments about her mother and Mr Pfeffer. It is a well balanced presentation. The treatment of, for example, how the enforced, constant isolation, at the very age when one normally expands one's life beyond one's family, could have sparked Anne's strong irritation is accurate and delicate, and could be helpful to those who wish to use the book in a classroom.

The best historical information about Anne Frank that I have read. I thought the chapter that showed the slow but steady taking of specific rights from the Jewish residents was excellent in providing a picture of what was happening to them. I'd never read about what happened after Anne Frank and her family and friends went to concentration camps, so that was sad but historically interesting. Excellent book. I would recommend it to everyone!

I went through a stage of extreme interest in Anne Frank after reading her biography and this book added another dimension to her story. Recommended reading.

Anne would have liked todays peanut butter.

The story of Anne Frank is one my husband always wanted to read. We are 65 yrs. old and he is a big history buff.

Each negotiating tactic and each example Johnston discussed triggered memories of past negotiations in my career - job offers, salary negotiations, business contracts, even past purchases and relationships - that went horribly awry and for which I felt I got the short end of the stick. And I realized as I read - and re-read - the examples Johnston provided what I might have done differently to have achieved happier outcomes.

It could be just me. I like examples of people accomplishing their goals or failing as the other guy but I want to learn about the mechanism behind it. This book doesn't talk about anything related to psychology behind the process. I don't think I found more than 10% of the contents useful.

Having been a startup entrepreneur and tried to convince large companies to invest/partner/become a customer, I can relate to many of the lessons in this book and wish I had read it then. It is somewhat repetitive and some of the examples chosen aren't quite apt, but many of the insights related to business negotiations are spot-on and useful. Not that they are easy to put in practice necessarily --- that is a different ball game. Overall a great read, definitely worth it --- it'll likely make you think, and has insights that I don't recall reading/seeing in other books on negotiation. The anecdote on the photographer and the US government was particularly well chosen.

This book changed my life. Absolutely would recommend it!

This is a nice starter book for anyone wanting to learn to make soap. It does have helpful explanations and recipes for making soap. Grammatical errors detract from reading it, but if you are just starting out, it is worth taking a look at.

Love how they educate you about the history of the world changing around us at the same time of explaining how to help yourself not to irritate your skin if you have sensitive skin and if you're allergic to a lot of things like this in the store that way I can make my own and feel better about myself but in the best health way possible.

Wish this was a bit more informative.
