I am a published writer of non-fiction -- I write for Examiner, CBS, Care.com, Tattle, and other publications as a freelancer. However, I have had immense difficulty tackling the novel I've always dreamed of writing. It is in pieces on my flash drive as parts seem to just "come" to me.What I appreciated most about this manual is the planning process and the tips for conquering writer's block. As I was reading, I discovered that this is exactly what I was having problems with. I love creating characters (never grew out of making imaginary friends, I guess), and I like creating all of the challenges the characters go through in my mind, and watching them overcome. The beginning and ending of my novel is coming out nicely, but the middle is skeletal at best. It's because I didn't plan very well for it. Now I know what to do when I go back and try again.My only complaint about this book is that it's somewhat repetitive. I feel like some parts were repeated just to have more pages.I recommend this to aspiring writers of any age!

After years of writing in university, Finally I have found a clear path to the objective for short story and novel writing. Composition classes, thesis, critiques, discussion, and research writings have been my game for years, but no one has ever put it plain and simple to exactly how to keep on track and follow your outline. Character analysis is also discussed and shown how important it is to do research and planning in order to keep the reader interested. The book is short, but with all the information packed into it, following the tips given here will make any beginner or seasoned writer the best one can be. I have shared this book many times with my writers groups and we agree--it is a must for your writing career.

Myers uses a six-box approach to plotting and then divides each box into about five scenes. The book is aimed at a high school audience, and Myers delivers a cogent explanation of writing for this age group., For non-fiction writing, he uses a four-box: question, evidence, explanation, answer. Great book for young writers!

This is the book that all aspiring writers should read. Mr. Myers uses clear and simple instructions replete with numerous examples of how to go about writing. He expressly describes writing books, but much of what he has included rings true of any fiction. Although the title is just write, tells all the things that will improve your writing if you do the layout first. Preparation is clearly laid out in the beginning of the book. He also talks about what needs to be done for key points for the success of your writing.

Just Write was a really good book. It helped me understand the pre-writing process better and has helped my writing. I'm a huge Walter Dean Myers fan and would love to have the success he has had as a writer so this book is a great one for me to do that and see his process.

I selected this book, because I am writing a memoir. I also purchased a copy of his self portrait from his earlier life in New York City. I shared the latter with my grandson; I am using the 'Just Write' book to polish my writing for my memoir. I would recommend this book for anyone who is considering writing as a hobby or sideline. Myers describes his informal writing technique, which is easy to understand and apply to any writing style.

For a beginning writer, by that I mean a young person, this book would be helpful. The concrete illustrations provide an excellent framework. I think the main thing I got from Walter Dean Myers book is the importance of sharing a life story (his) but couched in story form. He has walked the walk! And his drive to do the "homework" is phenomenal, by that I mean the research and interviews and informative reading.

Walter Dean Myers book, JUST WRITE, HERE'S HOW, was excellent.Both well conceived and constructive about the writing process. His six part plan offers a well thought out way to begin and end a story. I especially liked his emphasis on thinking thru the process and seeing possible consequences of said actions. Should be required reading for all teachers. Terrific!!!

I didn't enjoy this one very much. The two main characters, Lennon and Zorie were OK, and as usual, Bennett is great at creating steamy romantic scenes. I enjoy them, I wait for them. However, the overall story and plot were a miss for me.Every secondary character that existed in this book was annoying. Zorie and Lennon's friends are a group of really horrible people, and it felt like they got off scot-free, which also bothered me.The whole nature aspect of the book was interesting until it stopped being interesting. I think my main issue with the book is that it kept digressing into random topics of space and nature and forests and weather and camping. The book was too long for the plot, and so it ended up dragging and felt like a story with no weight to back it up. It was all very predictable, and sure, I enjoy predictable once in a while, but I guess reading 2 or 3 Bennett books in a row, you start to feel like all her books and all her characters sound exactly the same.Lennon sounded way too much like Jack to me from Night Owls and Zorie was the dorky geeky protagonist, who sounded too much like Bex. Also, all her female protagonists have that quirky fashion sense. I did love Zorie's stepmom, but I was unconvinced by the whole dad situation and how that was resolved.So far, my favorite book for Jen Bennett was Alex, Approximately. It was perfectly balanced, the getting to know each other phase to the romance build up, to the family drama, to the big revelation at the end. This one was a big book filled with very little content, and Night Owls was too much romance with very little to back it up.I would skip this one.

How did I go this long without knowing of their existence? For real!Once I started Starry Eyes, like really started it (for the second time, it took me a little to started again like I previously said because of the other books I needed to read) I just couldn't put it down. Not even kidding, I took it with me to both my jobs, I read it in bed, I just was obsessed with what was happening.Lennon and Zorie are so cute and just give you couple goals, even now I have so many feels for their relationship. This relationship for some reason feels so real to me. I don't know if it's the writing or just how I was feeling when I read it, I just love it and it makes me feel things.Starry Eyes gets 4.5 out of 5 stars in my review book.There were so many amazing parts to this story, I mean most of the book is just pure bliss to read. There is just one faulty thing I noticed, it's how long it took for the camping trip to actually begin. I mean it didn't take really long, but to me it was a little too long and I was impatient to get to the camping because I knew the good stuff was going to happen once the camping started.So basically my impatience is the reason why it gets a 4.5 instead of 5.Now there are so many things I loved that if I mentioned them all I would definitely spoil the book for you and I don't want to do such thing.Lennon and Zorie are wrong time lovers. They both think they have unrequired love for each other and they try to suppress it as much as they can until Lennon can't take it anymore. Yes, it might sound weird because of what the synopsis says, but trust me, once you read it you will agree with me.Lennon has been in love with Zorie for a long time and though he thinks she is the one who gave up on him, he is determined to show her that they are destined to be together and that her father is wrong in so many levels about their relationship and he is tired of being afraid of him.Bennett's writing just transports you to the setting and it makes you feel all the things the characters are feeling, it's just fantastic.Starry Eyes is just an amazing story about self development, about confronting your own fears and getting out of your comfort zone. You never know what you are missing if you spend all your life planning and worrying about what could go wrong, sometimes you have to be, "careful not cautious," (quote from the book).Amazing read all together, completely recommend it, it's super fun and easy to read and you will not be disappointed!

I literally read this book while sitting on the beach so maybe my setting skewed the ultimate reading experience, but I don't think so. Jenn Bennett knocked this one out of the park. I love the outdoors, I love hiking and camping, and the whole time I was mentally jotting down every place Zorie an Lennon visited because I desperately wanted to be there. Maybe I'll get to go there someday. Each character in Starry Eyes felt fleshed out, most especially Zorie and Lennon. They felt like real people, real teens navigating a very messy world. Their romance gave me all the feels and I kind of want a prequel of sorts now. The writing flowed well, never bogged down, I really appreciated the descriptions because they helped set the scene and I could picture their adventure. Definitely a huge fan and will be passing it on to others.

I have the previous edition and was very pleased with this book. However I specifically bought this "revised" one because it said that it was "based on the 6th Edition" . However it included no new questions to address the project process in Integration "Manage Project Knowledge". As such I am no better off having spent this extra money because seems so far what has changed is the cover!

I just received this book today in the very first question in the book is wrong. The very first question under project management framework questions is wrong on page 8. I compared it with the project management framework solutions on page 17. The answer isn't even one of the choices for the question. I hope that is just a misprint. I'm going to read through the book and compared to the PMBOK and provide status of its usefulness after I passed my exam.

This is a decent basic manual for practice. It does a great job of going over how to do a thorough dental exam before even getting started. It references the dental work done on young horses more than old and in my practice, I unfortunately see many old horses with bad teeth and I wish this book addressed those dental problems in a little more detail.

Daughter is a Ferrier and is also studying Equine Dentistry- She asked for this book for X-mas and seems very pleased with it!

Although the author has gained some serious credits in the world of equine dentistry, this book does not live up to its expectations. The procedures that are described are not very detailed and lack the current insights in modern dentistry. Albeit this is a good start-up for willing enthusiasts in this field of work, a skilled equine dentist will have no advantage from this book. The most serious problem is that it lacká·°s a functional / theoratical backbone from which dentistry has to be performed (i.e. no in depth review of masticatory function and dental balancing).

We know the main contributor and use his services for our 500 horses. Each horse owner should know how to remedy simple problems and when to call the dentist. Several of our horses were pronounced "dying, no matter what you do" by the University Large Animal Clinic, but attention to their teeth saved each of them. Solely on the strength of the contributor we strongly recommend this manual to all horse owners.

This book gives a great practical foundation for horse floating in a vet practice. The illustrations provide a very thorough guide to various pathologic dental conditions and their remedies. Equipment is also discussed in detail. If you can only afford one book on equine dentistry, I would recommend this one. Best on the "How-To's".

I can't say enough about this book, it has enlightened me. It's out of print I think, b/c it was hard for me to get my hands on one, but the effort was well worth it!

Purchased for my granddaughter who is a Vet Tech! She was thrilled with it and checks it frequently! Nice gift! Great looking book.

The delivery box was left out in the rain by the UPS guy. When I tried to return it to UPS they apparently sent it back to Amazon who then sent it back to me because it was damaged, I guess. I cannot find a way to complain to Amazon and UPS just said thank you for your complaint and did nothing. Now I have a waterlogged book that can be used but is really damaged...and I paid full price for this? This kind of event does damage to Amazon's business model, but Amazon may be too big to care.Amazon needs to rethink some of its customer service and/or needs to rethink its relationship with UPS. I know that I will avoid using UPS in the future.

I was extremely disappointed that Amazon failed to tell me that this book was an older edition (and therefore useless) somehow I managed to order 2 what is worse. then i had to go and buy a 2005 edition locally. all up the book cost me over $120. The publishing date should be visible when ordering. and i do not like the way that as a returning customer my details are automatic and therefore i 'order' when i am only browsing and contemplating. this needs to improve with a question are you ready to order now.. at the point of Amazon thinking your ready...
